Quote:
Libyan leader, Muammar Gadaffi, yesterday caused a scene at the African Heads of State Summit in Speke Resort, Munyonyo near Kampala when he slapped one of his aides for taking him to a wrong venue of the meeting. He was supposed to go to Meera Hall where other presidents were waiting to start a meeting but his protocol people led him to Victoria Hall.

Colonel Gadaffi came riding across the extensive grounds of the plush resort on an electronic-powered cart as has become the normal means of conveyance for some of the leaders.

He then climbed the staircase leading to the hall but midway a presidential guard told his aides that they were taking him to a wrong venue.

He turned to his aide and they started talking in Arabic before slapped him twice on both cheeks.

His guards shielded him from journalists who were hurrying to take this picture.

He later rode back on the cart with his burly guards and Uganda presidential guards surrounding him.

One hour later, he returned and entered the meeting where presidents were discussing the theme of the summit; maternal, infant, child health and development.

The Libyan leader’s bodyguards then engaged in yet another round of pushing and shoving —– as they had done on Sunday — as he entered the hall. Hardly 30 minutes later, he strode out of the meeting, picked a plastic chair and sat in the gardens where he told his aides to call Tanzanian President Jakaya Kikwete.

He then told his aides to prepare him tea on a charcoal stove, commonly known as sigiri.

“What is this man doing?” said a delegate from South Africa as many delegates crowded to see what was going.

His presence attracted the attention of delegates and journalists who started taking his picture before he angrily lifted the chair and hid amongst the flowers.

Ugandan presidential security and Gaddafi’s guards threw a security ring around the gardens as all this was taking place.

By press time, Col Gadaffi was preparing to have a barbeque with other presidents.

TO MR. PIRATE:
Dr. Alhaji Muammar Ghaddafy (any of 40spelling variations are acceptable) is officially a COLONEL. That was his rank in 1969 when he overthrew the government (monarchy really) of King Idris.

With his unique People Revolutionary Council government he implemented his dream The Green Book of turning Libya's expansive arid land into orchards courtesy of petrodollars that irrigated the jamhariya.
Though loved for his ideas, he brooked no dissent and changed the meaning of the word 'strong-man'. His ruthlessness became excessive and Kwathafi the mad man entered. The president of the United states of Africa.

zToday the world awaits his exit with abated breath - for no one knows what else in his madness he just might decide to become.

NO. At least not directly. in 1982 his embassy in Nairobi was closed after agents infiltrated UoN, caused unrest and recruited youths to go to Libya for training. The building on Loita street was closed and jamahiriya house stayed vacant until shortly after Libya restored relations a few years back - it is directly adjacent to their controversial landmark: the Laico Regency. separated only by Nyati house - the home of the feared precursor to the NSIS.
Yes, he has been involved in every attempt to promote anti-american activities in east africa. in the 1990s he attempted to arm Uganda to extend his sphere but M7 wisened up. and apparently the Lockerbie bombing drama sapped most of his energy.
Col. Gaddafi is one hell of a bomb -slowly being detonated by age.

the lockerbie bomber was released and received by Gaddafi himself, but apparently there are rumors BP had something to do with his release. a few months after his release, Libya has granted BP a contract to drill oil off Libyan coast.
people say libya is politically stable but i beg to differ, the moment Gaddafi dies (am not trying to be octopus) but the guy will die some day,(apparently death is the only way Gaddafi will step down from power, so it looks) libya will need another IRON FIST ruler or come face to face with democracy and if they are not careful everything might crumble under their watch, so as the bomb GADDAFI detonates, another bomb,LIBYA is arming itself.

It is tragic that kenya in the 1980s was so dictatorial that students were ready to follow this man as you would a messiah. just goes to show how denying people their rights deprives them rational thinking. we pray never again!

rational thinking is some thing rare with people especially in kenya. but then again the guy who wrote TALK OF THE DEVIL, THE SEVEN WORST DICTATORS, should have given muammar Gaddafi a thought and make them eight.

i read this story in the news paper last year, where Gaddafis' son who resides in Switzerland walked into a hotel and after dining refused to pay. he was arrested but the swiss were forced to release him and apologize after his father(the original gaddafi)cut of all oil supply to Switzerland and swiss import all their oil from Libya.

There was this exile in some european city who criticised Ghaddwaffey's plan to construct a stone wall with her neighbour to the west. a 1000+ km wall !
Within 24 hours the guy was gunned down in broad daylight.
